Paulo Alex Borges

Paulo Borges graduated in the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), Vila Real, Portugal. He performed an internship in the University of Lisbon (FMV-UTL). During 6 years, he was an assistant consultant in the CERCA, ENVA (Centre d’Études en Reproduction des Carnivores) and co-responsible of the dog and cat breeding department (UMES) in the National Veterinary School of Alfort (ENVA) – Paris. He fulfilled a 3-years residency program, in the CERCA-ENVA-Paris, becoming a Diplomate Specialist of the European College of Animal Reproduction (ECAR) in 2015. After one year working in the private sector, he worked between 2017-2018, as a researcher in the NeoCare Unit of the National Veterinary School of Toulouse (ENVT) in the field of infectious diseases in neonatalogy and pediatric dogs. Furthermore, he worked in the carnivores semen bank, CRECS, in the south of France for one year. Currently, he is working as an assistant professor at the Lusofona University in Lisbon, Portugal and he is the director of the very recent CRVA (Centro de Reprodução Veterinário Atlântico) at Hospital Veterinário Atlântico (Mafra, Portugal). Also, he works as a reference consultant in reproduction and collectivity medicine in Portugal and France. He works as a lecturer for breeders and veterinarians for several institutions. He is also vice-president of the reproduction group in France, GERES-AFVAC and an elected member of the EVSSAR board (European Veterinary Society for Small Animal Reproduction). He has been invited to lecture in different countries in South America, Asia and Europe. He is also author and co-author of several scientific articles, along with several chapters of books and manuscripts.
